Songbroker Song of the Day: Dribbling Darts of Love - 'Try Not To Explain'

Dribbling Darts of Love were a New Zealand based band from Auckland active from 1989-1993.

The name is a quote taken from William Shakespeare's play Measure for Measure stating 'Believe not that the dribbling dart of love...'

The band was formed by Matthew Bannister after the separation of his previous Dunedin Sound Group Sneaky Feelings.

Other band members include Alice Bulmer, Ross Burge, Alan Gregg and Richard Foulkes Jr.

Dribbling Darts of Love had a NZ Top 40 hit in 1994 with the eccentric 'Hey Judith'.

From The Dribbling Darts’ album Present Perfect, ‘Try Not To Explain’ is a clever, quirky, wistful, upbeat track showcasing Bannister’s lyrical nous and gift for melody.
