Tania Giannouli piano duo concert with Nik Bärtsch

Tania Giannouli has announced a new concert and the premiere of a very special project: A piano duo with Nik Bärtsch on 23 February 2023 at Jazzclub MOODS, Zurich (CH) .

“A very special piano duo, the idea of which was formed in the autumn, as Nik and I were both the two artists in residence at Enjoy Jazz Festival 2022, in Germany.”

Tania Giannouli's cross-genre music has been described as highly original, lyrical, complex, eclectic and intoxicating. Classically trained and inspired by many different traditions and influences, her compositions and interdisciplinary projects span an impressive spectrum of styles, creating a boundless fusion of our global reality. 

Nik Bärtsch, on the other hand, explores the special nature of his so-called "modular" music with patience, iintense concentration and lightness. In playing, Bärtsch tries, as he says, "to let go, to find a flow in the piece; to overcome the urge to force the music and thus find a higher level of freedom in accordance with the form of the work." 

In the meeting of these two pianists there is the potential to open up previously unexperienced, new vast expanses and worlds.
