Roulettes unveil collaborative video for single 'Future Days'
Roulettes’ acclaimed 2021 album release Demosphere evolved out of band demos, where all recordings were done at home in Auckland by Justin McLean or at home in Hanoi by Ben Grant.
Their single ‘Future Days’ has just received a video accompaniment - a collaborative filming effort, with footage taken from Ruapehu, Hanoi and the Swiss Alps!
“The song came about in 2020 during the first lockdown as I took stock of my current situation and pondered the uncertain future.”says Justin. “Looking back and looking forward, all bets were off… it was a strange feeling of powerlessness yet it was also strangely comfortable and comforting, which is reflected in the easy going (easy listening?). The autumn weather and general stillness of lockdown Tamaki Makaurau is reflected in the sound, I feel. Picture yellow leaves and slanted sunlight.”
“Basically the video was made from our shared obsession with speeding up video footage of gondolas from various parts of the world”, muses Justin.
The effect is altogether mesmerising and really captures the energy of the track.
