'Te Pö' Remix features on 60 Seconds

Hirini Melbourne's and Richard Nunn's 1994 recording Te Kū Te Whē (Literally meaning “The Woven Mat of Sound”)has been pivotal to the rediscovery of sounds and practices of the taonga puoro (traditional Maori instruments).

Hirini Melbourne’s and Richard Nunns’ composition ‘Te Pö’ was remixed by Pitch Black in 2006 and featured on the Rattle Records compilation album Te Whaiao (Te Kū Te Whē Remixed).

The first episode of talent show 60 Seconds has just aired on TVNZ 2 and features the Pitch Black remix as the song behind sand artist Marcus Winter’s performance.

We are very grateful to the producers for licensing local music from such talented musical taonga.
