'Confusions and Delusions' Wayne Gillespie tackles mental health
Wayne Gillespie’s song ‘Confusions & Delusions’ is a track about the difficulty those experiencing severe mental health issues have obtaining and sustaining appropriate treatment, particularly in an underfunded public health system.
With the closure of residential inpatient faculties in the 90's, the streets and the jails have become the home of many sufferers of severe mental health illnesses.
Some people might not know this but Gillespie trained as a psychologist and did his thesis on the Personality of Rock Musicians (many Aussie and NZ musicians were interviewed for this).
He also worked as student counsellor at UNSW and NIDA for 19 years, and now specialises in working with people in the creative and performing arts (private practice) in combination with his career as a songwriter, recording under the the FAMOUS BLUE RAINCOAT moniker. This new album was co-written and produced with drummer Rob Grosser ( Jimmy Barnes, Jon Lord, Bob Daisley).
