Tibor drops new single 'Not My Scene'
The soulful voice and powerful stomp of Hopetoun Brown, Tim Stewart has another alter ego entitled Tibor.
Of his new single ‘Not My Scene’ Tim writes, “You could say this song was an adverse reaction I had after playing at a music festival.
In the midst of this orgy of goodvibes I realised how much I craved the dark and exclusive nature of my particular gay niche. It seemed unlikely I was going to stumble across a grotto with a sign outside stating: Men only. Strict dress code of leather and levis.
I was trying to keep my sense of alienation and loneliness under wraps but my lack of enthusiasm was a real thorn in the side of this pluralistic and inclusive love fest.
“Haters gonna be haters” they sighed.
My niche is Gay, male, wears leather and does scary, sexy stuff in the dark. Stuff that maybe doesn't sit well with a hen's party drinking cocktails at the bar. The leather scene is intimidating almost by definition and thrives in its oppostion to tradtional values. You gotta want it bad. It takes courage to take those steps into the shadows.
The next morning I wrote this song. A celebration of perverts and freaks and our outré family values.”
Sonically, Tabor’s new single ‘Not My Scene’ is part dark, dirty, distorted spoken word, part baroque synth and part eighties RnB, but for all its parts it’s incredibly engaging and you want to take the journey.
