Jesse Wilde releases 'Honey (Headin' South)'
Auckland based singer/songwriter Jesse Wilde reveals his new single ‘Honey (Headin' South)’ today - a rollicking rock-n-roll ride that harkens back to 70’s bands such as Lynard Skynard and the Allman Brothers.
Of the track Wilde explains, “I wrote this song after watching the Rolling Stones concert movie Shine A Light. When Mick Jagger and Jack White sang 'Lovin' Cup' I was truly inspired to write a sexy, gritty Rock 'n' Roll song. I was on the road and missing my girlfriend and I thought to myself what's the worst place I could be? That's where I came up with the opening line 'You got me rotten, forgotten, abandoned in a prison in Asia, I got sores, dirt and flies buzzing around my mouth! This song is a metaphor for missing your lover! Sometimes when I’m on tour supporting an album release the hotel rooms feel like prison cells, the media feels like your enemy, it feels like the groupies just want a piece of you and all you really want is some genuine love (Sweet Honey) from your girl back home who knew you before all of this Rock ‘n’ Roll craziness began!”
