Emily Rice - 'Over Time'
Emily Rice is back with a new, fresh waiata, the first single from her upcoming Auaha EP (out early 2021). ‘Over Time’ is now available on all listening platforms, a tune best described as chill-DnB-pop.
During lockdown level 4 and having a 20 show tour with her duo Aro cancelled, Emily made it her mission to write a song a day to push herself creatively. She has taken the favourites from this collection into the studio with producer Michael Collier to create her edgy new EP.
Over time, things that perhaps didn’t make sense to you before can often find new meaning, or become clear. Over time, we heal. Over time, we gain new perspectives.
‘Over time’ is a song about a relationship, when it all crumbles, eventually your perspective changes and you can finally see it was never meant to be, that you actually deserved better.
Emily is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Tāmaki Makaurau. Twice finalist of songwriter of the year while studying at pop music school, Emily has gone on to release three EP’s since 2012, perform across Europe, collaborate with countless fellow musicians and is one half of a two time Silver Scrolls finalist bilingual duo Aro.
Emily’s songs have evolved with each new project, moving through different styles and always integrating vocal looping, sprinkles of jazz and a touch of saxophone.
