Songbroker Song of the Day : Herriot Row - 'Out of the Ordinary'

Herriot Row is the musical moniker of Auckland, New Zealand-based songwriter Simon Comber, who has previously released 2 L.Ps and an E.P under his own name.

Comber’s music mixes alternate guitar tunings, folk rock arrangements, analogue production techniques, psychedelic melodic strains and a narrative lyrical focus.

‘Out of the Ordinary’ is an intimate, eloquently bittersweet melodic track taken from his recent album Lesser Stars which sees Comber continue to test the limits of what can be written about in a folk song.

Produced by John Vanderslice - this defiantly straight-to-tape production brings the new album closer to the warmth and fragility of Herriot Row’s compelling live shows.
