Douglas Lilburn joins Songbroker
Songbroker Music Publishing now represents the music of New Zealand composer Douglas Lilburn, for the benefit of the Lilburn Trust.
Douglas Lilburn (1915-2001) has been described as "the elder statesman of New Zealand music" and the "grandfather of New Zealand music."

A Seat at the Table
Filmmakers David Nash and Simon Mark-Brown's new documentary highlights pivotal moments in NZ winegrowers’ ascent in the international market. A Seat at the Table will air at the 2019 NZIFF and offers eye-popping camera work, picturesque vineyards and gratuitous grape shots in this sumptuous visual storytelling of NZ’s world-famous wine industry. The musical soundtrack for the documentary was composed by Greg Johnson, who tastefully expresses the passion, gravitas and complexity of this traditional, centuries old craft.
Straight Forward
Bringing together NZ’s stunning scenery with Scandinavia’s finest crime-noir, Straight Forward is unmissable TV viewing. Filmed in Queenstown and Copenhagen, the 8-part series follows a Danish woman’s attempts to leave her criminal past behind her by moving to a small NZ town. Straight Forward is filmed mostly in NZ, with many Kiwi cast and crew, including cameos by kiwi band Boom! Boom! Deluxe. Straight Forward is now airing on TVNZ OnDemand.
Ford license Grand Prix song
Ford NZ has kept the music local in their latest ‘The future belongs to those that build it’ campaign, utilising the Grand Prix track ‘Travelling Companion’ as the musical backdrop. The creative takes us through key moments in world history, and Ford’s technological accomplishments along the way, as they indicate no intention of slowing down in the future. ‘Travelling Companion’ is an earthy, road trip accompaniment to Ford’s developmental milestones. Prime’s 5 part series Anthems: New Zealand’s Iconic Hits tells the stories of many of New Zealand’s iconic songs, with influential musicians and industry professionals sharing their behind-the-scenes take on the art of making music in Aotearoa. Anthems features iconic songs from Songbroker artists such as Goodshirt’s ‘Sophie’, Rikki Morris’s ‘Nobody Else’, and Push Push's 'Trippin'.
House Of Champions
Directed by Kirsty Griffin & Viv Kernick and produced by Bella Pacific Media, The new NZ on Air funded documentary House of Champions follows three flatmates striving for Special Olympics glory. With their sights firmly set on achieving gold, can they beat the odds or will hot chips and life get in the way?House of Champions celebrates the differences amongst us and the threads that bind us together. This documentary features the Andrew Thorne song ‘Blown Up Heart’.
Ariana Tikao song used by RNZB
The Royal New Zealand Ballet 'Choreographic Series' presented 6 shows at the Opera House in Wellington and the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch in early March. One of the performances was created around the beautiful song 'Tuia' written by A. Tikao and L.Glen from Ariana's 2008 album Tuia.
