Songbroker Song of the Day: Eva Prowse - 20th Century
Eva Prowse writes and performs retro-future indie, folk, and pop with lush, pure vocals, synthesisers and samples, violins and guitars.
Her most recent project is writing and performing the score to playwright and actor Arthur Meek’s new show Erewhon Revisited, premiering at the 2017 Christchurch Arts Festival, and garnering great reviews following a season at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In NZ, she is probably best known for performing with NZ super-group Fly My Pretties, performing at the Byron Bay Blues Fest and featuring on their two live albums – 2009’s A Story and 2011’s Fly My Pretties IV.
Her latest album, Humid Nights, is a MIDI-pop album inspired by growing up in the 80s, 90s and today, drunken fights in hot countries, small towns and big cities, bad decisions and The Spice Girls.
‘20th Century’ is a quirky, bright, 80’s dance pop track filled with syncopated synth sounds, layered vocals and wistful intent.
