Songbroker Song of the Day: Evan Silva - 'Call it Christmas'

Soulful New Zealand singer Evan Silva has paid his dues on both sides of the Tasman in the mid to late 1960s, playing Motown inspired rhythm and blues and living life on the edge – that was until a spiritual encounter set him on a new course. Since then Silva has sung on a number of singles, dozens of jingles and has released eleven albums since his drastic transformation in 1973.

His silky smooth delivery has often been likened to that of Al Green.

‘Call it Christmas’ has elements of funk and soul, with an uplifting happy holiday melody. Our kind of Christmas song.
