Kingsley Spargo new album 'Chasing Spirits'

Sound artist Kingsley Spargo's broad sound palette both captivates and confronts his audience.

Having delighted audiences alongside Don McGlashan, SJD, Eve de Castro Robinson, Tim Finn, Violent Femmes and Witi Ihimaera, Kingsley celebrates his own new collection of songs Chasing Spirits'.

Drawing across theatre, free improvised and contemporary music his most recent compositions include narratives of yearning and the geometry of life.

‘You get some living under your belt and start to see the patterns of your own life’, says Kingsley.

Chasing Spirits is released on Pacific Echoes and is an entirely new form with Spargo as the featured vocalist keeping excellent company with his contribution of pūmoana (conch shells) and pedal steel guitar courtesy of Neil Watson (The Finn Brothers, Tami Neilson, Mick Nock). Chris Orange effortlessly weaves his double bass throughout, and jazz pianist Alan Brown adds the icing.

The album was co-produced with engineer Zed Brookes.

‘It’ll be great to get it out there, this has been a long time coming, time to unleash the hounds.’

Kingsley celebrates with an album release show on October 23rd at The Wine Cellar, featuring special guest Courtney Sina Meredith as well as:

Kingsley Spargo                      vocals, guitar, trumpet, pūmoana
