Songbroker Song of the Day: Royal Jackets - 'Some Days'

Royal Jackets are an energetic 4 piece rock band based in Auckland, NZ, with a sound that draws heavily from 70’s and 90’s rock.

Between them they have played and recorded with top New Zealand artists including Sola Rosa, Nathan Haines, King Kapisi, Hammond Gamble, Hello Sailor and supported music legends Eric Clapton, Bryan Ferry, Jeff Beck, Joan Armatrading. John Mayer and Jimmy Barnes.

Together as Royal Jackets they have opened for Hello Sailor, 80’s pop hit makers the Narcs, modern rockers I Am Giant, and Aussie rockers Collins Class on their 2016 NZ tour.

Influences such as The Beatles, David Bowie and Queen feature heavily in Royal Jackets melodic and structural content while hints of Rage Against The Machine, Led Zeppelin and Faith No More come through in the bands heavy grooves.

Royal Jackets spent 2017 recording at Roundhead Studios and released their debut self tilted E.P. on Jan 7 2018. ‘Somedays’ is taken from this e.p. and we think everyone can relate to the sentiment, plus this song is extremely catchy!

Catch Royal Jackets at the Waiheke Jazz Festival this Easter. To hear more from Royal Jackets head over to the Songbroker Search Engine.
