Songbroker Welcomes Darcy Perry Band
Songbroker is very pleased to welcome the music of the Darcy Perry Band.
Darcy Perry is an entertainer with a deep understanding of the blues. He’s played with some of the world’s best artists and as an entertainer Darcy Perry is renowned for his live shows, performing with passion, intensity and a ferocious band.
His albums have garnered righteous acclaim from critics and roots music fans alike. A strong song writer, his compositions have been licensed to numerous local TV productions.
Born in Thames in 1972, Darcy followed in his father’s footsteps as a brass bandsman (trumpet) until his early teens when he bought an Ibanez Roadstar and started playing bass guitar in local cover bands (Little Wing, Native Gypsies and Sweet Deceit).
In the early nineties Perry became part of the New Zealand blues scene as bass player for Manawatu bluesman Tura 'Bullfrog' Rata.
By the end of that decade he had formed several bands and recorded two albums of original music. His debut album as a guitarist, Blues 4 Dad (2002), was dedicated to his father Ross Perry who had died of cancer in March 2002. This independent release was also the formation of the Darcy Perry Band.
