Odds & Ends release optimistic new single 'Better Days’

Dutch-Kiwi indie-rock band Odds & Ends bring you their look-on-the-brightside sunny new single ‘Better Days’ just as the season gets warmer. The excitement of spring matches perfectly with the upbeat, optimistic meaning behind the song.

“It’s essentially a song that is hopefully going to transport people to their happy places.” expresses frontman Koen Aldershof. “I wrote it with my best friend in mind. We used to go on road-trips together a lot and would spend the summer spearfishing, surfing and camping. That’s my happy place.”

This indie-pop-rock tune really does bring images of the ‘Better Days’. Although this song was written some time ago now, it somehow feels even more relevant coming out of the unspeakable going ons of the last couple of years.

“‘Better Days’ to me feels like you are outside and there’s sun shining on your skin; Those feel-good, blissful summer moments.”

Odds & Ends have recently been re-living some of those road trip memories touring with Te Whanganui a Tara based band Skram on their Walk Into The Sun tour. Playing packed out shows at San Fran in Wellington and the Turoa Lodge in Ohakune were the highlights of the tour and the band is frothing to share this new tune at their single release show on November 19 at the Tuning Fork.

Their last single release in April, also at the Tuning Fork, was a rocking success, with Flaxxies, Borderline and Coast Arcade as support acts. This time round, they are supported by indie-alternative rock girl-band The Dawns, Funky nine-piece Big Tasty, and local RnB goddess Gretel.

Mixing, mastering and promoting their most recent single ‘Something Else’, the band are classic for doing everything themselves. They even have homemade merch, made with up-cycled second hand clothing and sow-on patches. This makes every piece unique and brings down the retail price. However, the best thing about it is that it is slow-fashion.

With a background as a producer and audio engineer, Koen tends to produce most of the bands music and then pass it on to a different set of ears to mix and master.

Produced by Koen Aldershof, mixed by Luan Meaker, and mastered by Luke Finley from Primal Mastering (Strangely Arousing, The Vibes, Skram), ‘Better Days’ delves into a delightful whirlwind of indie-pop rock.

Odds & Ends promise to take you “higher and higher” with this tasty new single. Head along to the Tuning Fork to re-live your favourite summer moments before the next memory-making season begins.
