Topp Class: The Topp Twins Tribute Concert
On November 7, a glittering line-up of NZ's top musicians and comedians will pay tribute to Dame Lynda and Jools Topp in a unique concert celebrating the extraordinary contribution these kiwi showbiz icons have made to Aotearoa New Zealand over the past 40 years.
Guest artists, including Tami Neilson, Anika Moa, Ria Hall, Dame Hinewehi Mohi, Troy Kingi, Jackie Clarke, Annie Crummer and Don McGlashan will perform Topp Twins songs with a twist, while some of NZ's funniest comedians will pay homage to the godmothers of the local comedy scene.
The concert will be hosted by Karen O'Leary, Dame Lynda's on- screen daughter in Wellington Paranormal. The show is being filmed for television and audio recorded for RNZ.
The Dames themselves will also appear on stage – their first public performance since Lynda’s cancer diagnosis and Covid lockdowns halted their plans for a national tour in 2022 to celebrate their 40th anniversary as performers - unparalleled by any other kiwi artist.
Proceeds from the concert will help pay for the twins' ongoing treatment and living costs.
The Topp Twins are New Zealand national treasures who have performed around the world as an original comedy-music duo.
They have had their own award-winning prime-time TV series, most recently Topp Country (TVNZ), released many albums and children's audiobooks, been inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame, received the New Zealand Order of Merit and Honorary Doctorates and featured in a documentary film about their lives, which became a worldwide hit.
They have unparalleled broad appeal, regularly performing at corporate events, theatres, stadiums, Festivals and A&P shows where they are often mobbed by adoring audiences.
