Lake South drops new single, announces new album and tour
Wellington based artist Lake South has just announced the release of his third album The Light you Throw, slated for release on September 17 via Home Alone Records.
The album was written in the midst of Aotearoa's Level-4 lockdown and recorded at a rented house in Waikawa beach.
From the anxiety of the pandemic comes a record full of hope, joy and defiance. Expertly crafted odes to friends, the cities they live in, and the futures they strive for.
These are songs to be experienced live and Lake South has the band to make them pop. Theo Sekeris (Ras Judah, Rubita) is on bass, Eddie Crawshaw (Sheep Dog & Wolf, Bonaparte) hits rhythm, and Penelope Esplin (French for Rabbits, Grawlixes) adds beatific harmonies and synths.
The new album follows 2017's 'If You're Born On An Island the Ocean Heals You' and the follow-up, 'Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika', in late 2019. Both records have been critically acclaimed with Graham Reid calling Lake an ‘electro-folk postcard poet of his doubting generation’.
A new single has been released entitled ‘New Bourgoizealand (lucky)’, a sunny, upbeat track with a twist….
