Evan Silva's 'Secret Love'
Soul singer/songwriter Evan Silva has just released his new single ‘Secret Love’, an offering with a special story behind it.
While waiting on a flight to the Gold Coast Silva had a chance meeting with a musician Dan Teka, a friend of Evan’s bass player and a fan of Silva’s song ‘For You’. The chance meeting led to a group jam with friends and Dan’s request to write a song especially for him.
Back in NZ Evan completed the song and sent it to Dan and his wife, who recorded their own version of the song.
Dan unfortunately became very ill and sadly passed away. As time went by Evan was asked to honour Dan at a function at the Brisbane Arts Centre by singing ‘For You’ and ‘Secret Love’. It was a very moving occasion, following which Evan recorded a version of the song to send to Dan’s wife.
“On returning home I rejigged lyrics and eventually during the second lock down asked my music friend Ernie Semu to record a piano track then it went to expat upright Bass player Richard Hammond in New York then to Cello player in NY and I added my final vocal here at a home studio in Orakei” recalls Evan. “I recorded Secret Love to give as a gift to Dan's partner Jossie and that has just happened thanks to friend Polisi Fitz who has shadowed this project all the way through.”
This is such a special story about the power of music, how it brings people together, makes connections and is a powerful healer.
‘Secret Love’ is now available to purchase from Evan’s website.
