Songbroker Welcomes Martin Andrews
Songbroker is pleased to welcome Martin Andrews to the fold.
Martin Andrews (Ngaati Ruanui) is a songwriter and performer hailing from New Zealand's capital city, Wellington. Martin traces his musical lineage back to traditional song, gospel, blues, folk, country and rock’n'roll — mixed with the DIY ethos of punk and channeled through his Maori and European ancestry and his experiences of life in modern Aotearoa New Zealand.
He formed his first band Pisces during the mid 1990’s. They recorded an EP "Mi Casa Su Casa" in 2012 and released their first LP "Lordy, Lordy" in 2015.
In 2013 Martin joined the Polly Johnson Set, a collaboration with four other songwriters to write and perform around the local Wellington region, garnering an enthusiastic live following and thus far releasing two singles, 2013's "Hey little birdy" & 2015's "Let me count the ways (I love you)" an original composition by Martin.
In 2016 Martin formed his second band "The B-Sides" to record the album "Trouble". Recorded over six months and released in August 2016 the album features the Silver Scroll long listed track "Naomi".
Martin can currently be found gigging in the Wellington region with both the B-Sides & The Polly Johnson Set and is in the process of writing his third album tentatively titled "Aotearoa" with a release date of Christmas 2018.
