Bryce Wastney's new music video 'The Dream'

Moving to Melbourne in 2014 and all the adventures, hardships, and big city challenges that came with that season influenced the lyrics.” Bryce Wastney explains about his single ‘The Dream’.

Recorded and initially mixed at Hummingbird Recording Studio in Nelson, this track was made up out of several demo recordings Bryce made in hotel rooms while on tour using his 1981 Ibanez 12 String guitar.

“Its raw sound really works for this song. Often the only free time on tour is when you’re in a hotel room and you have minimal recording gear. It was recorded on a 4 track battery powered portable recording device, iit was nice not having the distractions and pressures from a modern recording studio when writing songs like this. The song has to work well with an acoustic guitar before I add more layers.”

The finished track was remixed and mastered by top music producer Dan Healy in the UK. The song is now available from all good online stores including Spotify.

The music video was made by NMIT lens based media students, who each had to make a stop-motion clip about a section of the song. They were engaged right from the start asking questions about the song and bouncing creative ideas around.

“Seeing little clay versions of ‘me’ everywhere in the art studios was funny to see. Their tutor, Jess Shirley did a superb job at co-ordinating this, and I am proud and honoured to have edited them all together to complete this video.”
