Dan Sharp's, single, EP and NZ Tour
Dan Sharp is a man of substance, dedication and has a heart of integrity. His commitment to his craft as an artist, songwriter and a producer of music runs deep.
His music is courageous, thoughtful and disarmingly honest and calls to mind the feeling of ‘They don't make them like this anymore’. His voice ranges from gravely ruggedness to tender velvet, the full extent of such is used to take listeners toward an emotional space of self acceptance.
2019’s single release, Kindle and Coal (500,000+ Spotify streams) displayed Dan’s ability to deliver an impact and vulnerability along the lines of modern international’s Lewis Capaldi and Dermot Kennedy, while maintaining his Springsteen-esque timelessness.
Opportunities were forthcoming with Dan opening shows for Hollie Smith, Tiki Taane, touring with Graeme James, performing mainstage at Rhythm and Vines and completing a NZ tour with Ciaran McMeekin.
2020 brought about a management and booking agency agreement that saw Dan tour NZ with Thomas Oliver, support Dave Dobbyn, receive NZ on Air funding, and sign with newly established Tenfold Records. Dan also was afforded the opportunity to work with award-winning producers, Thomas Oliver and Si Gooding at NZ’s famed Roundhead Studios.
The resulting single, ‘The Way That You Used To’ was released on February 19th to a strong response, and has set the stage for the remainder of his EP, ‘Water Went Away’, out soon. In support of the new work, Dan is hitting the road all over New Zealand, playing intimate venues from Auckland all the way down to Invercargill.
