PROJECT SUNRISE
Music From Tomorrow Morning - Project Sunrise Te Whitinga o te Rā is a Songbroker initiative to create the world’s first new body of musical expression from one of the first countries in the world to see the dawning of a new day. What an amazing experience for us all and what beautiful music to come out of an 'unprecedented' and uncertain time. DOUGLAS LILBURN
Songbroker Music Publishing is very proud to represent the music of New Zealand composer Douglas Lilburn, for the benefit of the Lilburn Trust. Douglas Lilburn (1915-2001) has been described as "the elder statesman of New Zealand music" and the "grandfather of New Zealand music." This year we have licensed Lilburn's compositions to Grand Designs NZ, The Auckland Libraries Salute to Seven Poets podcast and the APO Livestream performance 'Kia Kaha'.
WHĀNAU: VOICES OF AOTEAROA, FAR FROM HOME
This hour-long concert of New Zealand, Māori and Pasifika songs was recorded and filmed just before London’s latest lockdown on the Royal Albert Hall stage and features 21 UK-based Kiwi singers, pianist Bradley Wood, conductor Tianyi Lu and the Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club. Songbroker is proud to administer the release of this quintessentially New Zealand collection of songs, in support of these talented artists abroad.

Maui Milk's latest promotional video uses Joanna Jones’ beautiful synth pop track ‘Cross Your Mind’ to complement their visuals. The Verlaines' 'Death & the Maiden' was licensed for Shortland Street, The Topp Twins' were 'Untouchable Girls' on The Best Foods Christmas Comedy Gala, Evan Silva's 'This is Christmas' rolled over on the Triton Hearing Campaign, and Cassandra's Ears' 'As I Am In Skin' featured on Series 6 of Westside. The Gareth Thomas/Fazerdaze cowrite 'Lucky Girl' aired on Mean Mums, Kath Bee's 'You Can Be You' featured on Nurtured at Home's recruitment video, The Roulettes tracks 'Hullabaloo' and 'Captain' were licensed for NZ series The Educators and Ariana Tikao's song 'Korakorako' was used for Pure Fly NZ's promo campaign.
ANIKA MOA REUNITED
Anika Moa is back with another celebrity interview series. In Anika Moa Reunited she chats to New Zealand musicians Rikki Morris, and Mikey Havoc among others and reunites the song with artist, culminating in a duet performance. Rikki's hit 'Nobody Else' and Push Push's iconic 'Trippin' were both licensed for episodes on this fun, always hilarious, nostalgic series.
LATEST RELEASES
Spicer & Ryan's new single 'Royal Blues' is a stunning soulful offering. Emily Rice's ‘Over Time’ is a chill-DnB-pop track about finding clarity in past relationships. Max Earnshaw's latest energetic summer tune ‘Love It When You Hate Me’ really hits the spot. Manzo's cover of Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' is a great tribute to a master songwriter. Chris Sanders & Natalie Conaty's 'Mittens - Official Song' topped NZ charts in its first week! The Solomon Cole band unleashed a grinding stomper of a single entitled ‘Lucifer’s Rising’. Geoff Ong released his debut pop album, MAYBE IT’LL BE ALRIGHT. Nau Mai e Kā Hua, is the first duo album by Ariana Tikao & Al Fraser. Harry Parsons shines a light on anxiety with 'Good Time', while Looking For Alaska released a collection of dreamy folk/pop songs; Light and Shadow. Stretch summed up how we all feel with his album title Our Dreams Are Changing - showcasing intimate, heartfelt songwriting and sparse instrumentation.
TARANAKI HARD
Taranaki Hard is a poignant television series airing now on THREE. Set in the community of Waitara, this production gets up close and personal with a diverse bunch of young people in the Taranaki town. Songbroker was proud to license homegrown music from artists Lasair, The Three T's, Theolonius Kelly, D.Matthews, Abby Holden.
