Songbroker Welcomes Jessy & the Volunteers
Songbroker is very pleased to welcome the songs of Jessy & the Volunteers to the roster.
Jessy & the Volunteers play an infectious blend of funky soul infused with blues, rock and R & B. Influences include D’Angelo, Prince, Janis Joplin, Joss Stone and Anderson Paak to name a few.
After travelling across to world, honing her songwriting skills in countries such as Australia, Guatemala and the States, Jessy returned to NZ and in early 2017 assembled her band – The Volunteers – a sexy, bluesy meld of funk, rock, and soul.
In their first year, they filled live shows across Auckland and played Earthbeat festival at Atiu National park in 2019. Their debut video “Phone Face” was a hit last winter with the Official NZ Music charts mentioning them in their “Ones to watch”.
The summer of 2020 saw them play, Summer Soul festival in Taranaki, they opened for Katchafire to a sold out crowd at Meatstock Auckland.
The band are working on their debut album with producer Nathan Judd of Rageous Records (Hipstmatics/Lou’Ana/Kiko).
Their single “Time Is Laughing” is set for release in Spring 2020 ... followed by their debut album later in the summer.
