Songbroker Song of the Day : Paul Gurney with The DeSotos - 'Cold Wind'

Fuelled by a powerful blend of rock-infused country blues, The DeSotos combine rich harmonies with reverberant guitar sounds, chunky bass runs, and warm flourishes of Hammond organ.

‘Cold Wind’ from the 2017 album ‘Shadow of Love’, explores feelings of loss, in this case - a close friend through illness.

As a writer Paul Gurney says “I have always been drawn to a dark lyrical idea married to a warm melodic structure, and the juxtaposition this can create for a listener. The likes of Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris have always been masters of this art, and it is my hope these songs will evoke a similar feeling.”
