Nominations for the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards now open

Calling all Songbroker artists:

In November the music industry will celebrate the achievements of Aotearoa’s musical talent over the last year.

The Tui awards presented at the 2018 ceremony will be Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group, Best Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Maori Artist, Best Rock Artist, Best Hip-Hop Artist, Best Soul/RnB Artist, Best Electronic Artist, Best Roots Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Alternative Artist, Best Worship Artist and Best Classical Artist.

Finalists will be announced in October along with the 2018 Legacy Award recipient.

No finalists will be announced for the Highest Selling NZ Single, Highest Selling NZ Album, International Achievement, Radio Airplay Record of the Year or International Achievement Awards.

Additionally, the annual Artisan Awards in November will commemorate the unsung heroes of the New Zealand music scene – the producers and engineers who craft the artists’ work, as well as the talented visual artists translating the musicians’ visions into album artwork and music videos.  

This year Recorded Music NZ introduced the inaugural Music Teacher of the Year Tui, which will also be presented in November.

Other ngā Tui presented during the year include those for best artists in Country, Folk, Jazz, Pacific and Children’s music. These winners will also be acknowledged at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards ceremony.

You can view 2018 Eligibility Criteria and Category Definitions on the RMNZ website HERE.  Unless otherwise specified, awards are open to New Zealand artists who have had recordings commercially released between 1 August 2017 and 31 July 2018 (12 months). 

When you are ready to submit a nomination, log in HERE. Entries must be submitted online. To be eligible for judging, all nominations including any accompanying material must be with Recorded Music by 5pm on Friday 3 August 2018
