SONGBROKER WELCOMES ALAN BROWN

Songbroker is delighted to welcome Alan Brown to the roster.

An established jazz keyboardist within New Zealand, Alan has led the highly successful jazz-funk band in the 90’s – Blue Train (1996 Jazz Album of the Year winner), as well as becoming a core member of The Grand Central Band, and the Alan Brown Project, which performed regularly with singer Cherie Mathieson.

Alan is also in demand as a session musician, having played on many albums by artists such as Nathan Haines, Whirimako Black, Caitlin Smith, Kevin Mark Trail, Hello Sailor, Guy Wishart.

Alan’s varied musical influences has spawned projects such as the Hammond Organ-based Alan Brown Trio, with two albums to their name; his own quartet which released ‘Between The Spaces’ in 2011 as well as his ambient solo album ‘Silent Observer’, released in 2015.

Alan is also half of the ambient/experimental duo Alargo, with Kingsley Melhuish. Their debut CD was recently released in 2017 to extremely positive reviews, and they have been recently featured on BBC Radio 3.
