CELEBRATE MATARIKI WITH MIKA HAKA FOUNDATION

 

It's Mataraki 2015 and what better to celebrate Maori New Year by taking part in some Matariki Festival activities. Check their website for details:

The Mika Haka Foundation presents Matariki Mix-It from June 26th until the 30th. Be the first to experience new TV series and films before they hit the screen. Direct from Los Angeles Pride & SXSW Mika Haka presents his “Taniwha” live music performance + BBOY In-stance movement Hip-Hop performances, Kapa Haka performed by Taki Māori, Kā Schools, Contemporary dance + fresh voices of music.

Artists from ‘Ngā Whetū’ and ‘Rangatahi Tū Rangatira’ will also be taking to the stage to wrap up the Show. All access pass $15. More info here.

The Mika Haka Foundation invites people of diverse ethnicities, cultures, sexualities and religions, living in Aotearoa/New Zealand, to find pathways towards better health and education opportunities through physical culture and the performing arts.

MHF aim to provide young people with direction and create an understanding of self-discipline and boundaries. Maori refer to this as Tikanga. This direction helps to empower young people to set goals and take responsibility for their own lives.
