Auckland based Hip-hop funk soul outfit Kong Fooey have earned themselves a solid and loyal kiwi fan base with their tight musicianship, funky beats and high-energy crowd-pleasing performances.
Their first gig was at the Christchurch Beer Festival playing for 12,000 people before Supergroove hit the stage, they have also played Sounds on the Oval playing with Trinity Roots, Tiki Taane, Black Seeds & David Dallas. Their first album Final Destination released in 2015 received excellent reviews including a 5 star review from the Otago times.
Over the past 5 years the band has come to the fore with singles such as the 2013 release
‘Let Go’, picked up by Kiwi FM, George FM and Mai FM which amassed over 6,000 plays on Soundcloud, the hard-hitting frenetic groove of singles ‘Be Like Water’ , ‘Right As Rain’ and recently dropped brand new track The Beast also to be included in March 2017’s
NZ on Air New Tracks Disc.
All beats and music are written / produced by Jason Peters (ex Pumpkinhead) who has consistently collaborated with fellow Cantabrians Jamie Greenslade (aka Maitreya) ex Dark Tower, The Babysitter Circus) and cousin Alice Egan (aka Topaz), plus talented Singer/Guitarist David Haslett
Production is under way on brand new music for their next album due for release end of 2017 and look out for a video for new single The Beast due out in a few weeks time.
