Sound artist Kingsley Spargo’s broad sound palette both captivates and confronts his audiences.
Drawing across theatre, free improvisation and contemporary music, his most recent compositions include narratives of yearning and the geometry of life and feature on his most recent album Chasing Spirits.
Speaking on the album, Spargo says ‘You get some living under your belt and start to see the patterns of your own life’. The works are co-produced with Zed Brookes and feature Spargo as the featured vocalist and pumoana player, Neil Watson (The Finn Brothers, Tami Neilson, Mick Nock) on the pedal steel guitar, Chris Orange on the double bass and jazz pianist Alan Brown.
No stranger to the stage, Spargo has also delighted audiences alongside the likes of Don McGlashan, SJD, Eve de Castro Robinson, Tim Finn, Violent Femmes and Witi Ihimaera.
