Born in Hamilton, and raised in the sunny coastal town of Whangarei, acoustic soul singer/songwriter Sam Bartells currently resides in Auckland.
Bartells has a husky timbre and a love of raw acoustic guitar – his influences being the honest lyrics and memorable melodies of Ben Harper, James Taylor , Jimmy Barnes , Neil Finn and Dave Dobbyn to name a few.
Bartells began writing and playing at the age of 15, compelled by the need to tell his stories about love, life and addiction.
His talents won him first place in the Northland battle of the Bands in 2009.
Sam has just recorded his debut single at Roundhead Studios with producer Greg Haver, to be released in early November with a new album planned for 2016.
