Derek Solomon (a.k.a Solomon Cole) is front man and guitarist for Auckland based blues stoner rock'n'roll band These Automatic Changers.
He also fronts his own alt/blues/country band from his home on Waiheke Island called The Solomon Cole Band (album released in 2016) and is the guitarist and manager of the newly formed country/blues outfit Aaron Carpenter & The Revelators.
Derek has played notably in previous line ups of Stellar, Alastair Riddell, Kiri Eriwata Band and released records with Payola (Gone To Ground through Jayrem Records), Dirt and Stars from 2008 - 2010, Canis (Publisher Imperial Music) & Evilis in the mid 90's.
Solomon has had previous song placements on Outrageous Fortune Series 3, Broken Hallelujah, the 2014 movie by Alastair Riddell & Californian independent film Dead In Love.
He gained an honorable mention in the 2005 ISC American Songwriting Competition in the AAA/Roots/Americana for the song "Let Me Be Your Lover".
Going further back, Solomon was a founding member of Auckland's underground goth/industrial act, Hieronymus Bosch.
Derek also runs and operates Los Dada Productions with Lee Catlin from a studio they have recently set up on Waiheke Island. Derek and Lee have also recently launched a dance collective called The Waiheke International Soul Orchestra.
