Originally from Motueka in the South Island, now based in Auckland, Jason McIver is a singer/ songwriter with an easy listening style that incorporates a mix of alternative pop and folk.
Jason is emerging as a solo performer after years fronting heavy rock and metal bands around New Zealand, gaining exposure on The Rock FM, bFM and in NZ Musician Magazine and Blunt Magazine (Australia) featuring also on the included sampler CD.
Jason was awarded Songwriter of the Year and Vocalist of the Year at MAINZ 2010 and again won Songwriter of the Year at MAINZ for 2011.
Jason has been playing around NZ for the past 15 years in various covers bands, acoustic duos and original bands, also contributing lead guitar to Melbourne based songstress Plum Green's EP, The Red, and her full length album, Rushes.
He describes his solo material as drifting between pretty and dark, up beat and melancholic and favouring soundscapes rather than his traditional rock sound, a departure into the more colorful textures in music.
“Jason McIver's first 2 songs have really struck a chord with me. They seem to have that great balance between old school musical values and a new school sound. Can't wait to hear more!”

“The Crystal Pool is far too pop-worthy and catchy to hate. As a reviewer, as well as someone that naturally listens to songs on repeat, I can verify that after three hours over and over I can still take this song.”
